Community Guidelines
Last updated: 14.08.2026
Our core principles
- Safety comes before free expression. You are free to share your views, but content that harms other people is not protected.
- The rules apply equally to everyone. Popular accounts get no special treatment.
- Proportion, not punishment. A first, minor mistake gets a warning; repeated or severe violations get permanent enforcement.
- Our decisions can be scrutinised. You can appeal every enforcement action and find out the reasoning behind it.
- Context matters. We take it into account when assessing content that is newsworthy, educational or intended to raise awareness.
1. Harassment, bullying and hate speech
Not allowed
- Demeaning, humiliating or persistently pestering another person.
- Singling someone out and organising a pile-on against them (brigading).
- Degrading statements based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or serious illness.
- Hate symbols and propaganda for hate groups.
- Threats of death or physical harm.
- Mocking someone for their physical appearance, their voice or a disability.
Allowed
- Criticism of ideas and politics — as long as it targets the argument and not the person.
- Humour and satire — as long as it does not turn into the degradation of a group.
- Content that exposes, opposes or reports on hate speech (the context must be made clear).
2. Child safety (zero tolerance)
- Sexualising minors (whether the material is real, drawn or generated by artificial intelligence).
- Attempting sexual communication with a child (grooming).
- Sharing or requesting intimate imagery of minors.
- Accounts belonging to users under 13 — closed as soon as they are identified.
If you come across content like this, please report it immediately or write to safety@aurcam.com. Our full policy for this category — definitions, reporting routes, the minimum age, evidence retention and reporting to the authorities — is on the Child Safety Standards page. The guide written for parents is the Parents' Guide.
3. Violence and dangerous organisations
- Calling for, praising or planning violence.
- Propaganda, symbols or recruitment efforts for terrorist organisations and organised crime groups.
- Sharing extremely graphic violent content for shock value.
- Instructions for making weapons, explosives or dangerous substances.
Newsworthy footage of conflict, documentation of human rights abuses and educational content are assessed on their merits and, where necessary, placed behind a sensitive-content warning.
4. Suicide and self-harm
Content that encourages, instructs or describes methods for suicide, self-harm or eating disorders is prohibited. We do not remove content in which people share their own experience, describe their recovery or ask for support — that content can be valuable.
5. Adult content and nudity
- Pornographic content and the advertising of sexual services are prohibited.
- Sending unsolicited sexual direct messages is prohibited.
- Artistic nudity, breastfeeding, and medical or educational content are assessed on their merits and, where needed, shown behind a sensitive-content warning.
6. Privacy and consent
- Sharing non-consensual intimate imagery (revenge porn) is prohibited and results in permanent closure of the account.
- Doxxing: publishing someone's address, phone number, ID number, workplace or private contact details without their consent is prohibited.
- Disclosing private correspondence without the consent of the person involved.
- Secretly captured footage and recordings that violate a person's privacy.
- Impersonating someone else (parody accounts must clearly state that they are parody).
7. Scams and misleading content
- Fake investment promises, crypto scams, pyramid and Ponzi schemes.
- Phishing links and fake sign-in pages.
- Fake giveaways and prize promises.
- Health-related misinformation capable of causing harm (unproven treatment claims and the like).
- Misleading content generated with artificial intelligence and presented as genuine (deepfakes).
8. Spam, fake accounts and inauthentic engagement
- Sending bulk, unsolicited messages.
- Using automation or bots to generate follows, likes or comments.
- Buying or selling likes, followers or views.
- Posting the same content over and over; piling on irrelevant hashtags.
- Creating multiple accounts to evade an enforcement action.
- Buying and selling accounts.
9. Copyright and intellectual property
Sharing someone else's copyrighted work without permission is prohibited. If you are the rights holder you can submit an infringement notice; the process is described in detail on the Copyright & DMCA page. Posts made using the in-app music catalogue are licensed.
10. How to report a violation

- The ⋯ menu at the top right → Report → pick a reason.
- Comment
- Press and hold the comment → Report.

- The ⋯ in the conversation header → Report. You can also block the user from the same screen.

- Urgent and severe cases
- safety@aurcam.com — child safety, threats to life, non-consensual intimate imagery.
Reports are anonymous. We review the report and tell you the outcome. Deliberately filing a false report is itself a violation of these guidelines.
11. How enforcement works
We apply graduated enforcement, based on the severity of the violation, whether it is repeated and the intent behind it:
- 1. Warning
- A first, minor violation. The content is removed and the rule is explained.
- 2. Content removal
- The offending content is taken down and a strike is recorded against your account.
- 3. Feature restriction
- Features such as commenting, messaging or going live are temporarily switched off.
- 4. Temporary suspension
- Access to the account is suspended for between 24 hours and 30 days.
- 5. Permanent closure
- For severe or repeated violations. Creating a new account is also prohibited.
In cases such as child safety, non-consensual intimate imagery and genuine threats to life, these steps are skipped and the account is closed permanently straight away.
12. The appeal process
We may have got it wrong. You can appeal every enforcement decision:
- Use the Appeal link in the in-app notification, or write to appeals@aurcam.com.
- Your appeal is reviewed by a human moderator other than the one who made the decision.
- Under normal circumstances we respond within 7 days.
- If the appeal succeeds, the content is restored and the strike is cleared from your record.
We publish aggregate statistics about the decisions we make on the Transparency Report page.
