In an emergency
1. Secure your account
- Turn on two-step verification. Settings → Security → Two-step verification. Even if your password is stolen, nobody can get into your account.
- Use a strong, unique password. Never reuse a password from another site; that is how breaches spread from one service to the next.
- Review your sessions. Settings → Security → Sessions. Sign out any device you don't recognise, remotely.
- Never share your password. The AURCAM team will never ask you for a password or a verification code.
- Protect your email. Account recovery runs through email, so your email account should have two-step verification turned on as well.
2. Privacy and control tools
- Blocking
- Profile → ⋯ → Block. A blocked person cannot see your profile, message you or reach your content.
- Private account
- Settings → Privacy → Private account. Only the people you approve can see your content.
- Message filter
- Settings → Privacy → 'Who can message you': everyone, or friends only.
- Comment control
- Settings → Privacy → 'Who can comment on my posts': everyone, friends, or nobody.
- Tagging control
- Settings → Privacy → 'Who can tag me'. This also limits @mention notifications.
- Location and ghost mode
- Settings → Privacy → Location. Hide yourself from the map completely with a single tap; timed options revert to your previous setting when the timer runs out.
- Hiding your online status
- Settings → Privacy → when 'Show my online status' is off, nobody can see you online.
- Read receipts
- Turn them off and others no longer see that you have read their message (this works both ways).
- Story audience
- You can show your stories to everyone, to your friends, or only to your 'close friends' list.
3. Dealing with harassment and bullying
What you can do right now
- Don't engage. Arguing with a harasser usually escalates the situation.
- Keep the evidence. Take screenshots — if the account is deleted, they may be what the report review has to work from.
- Block and report. Reports are anonymous; the other person is never shown who reported them.
- Narrow your circle. Switch to a private account and limit messages and comments to friends.
- Don't go through it alone. Tell someone you trust; if you are a young user, tell an adult.
If the harassment continues or contains threats, write to safety@aurcam.com with the links and screenshots. Where there is a serious threat we recommend going to law enforcement as well; we respond to properly made requests.
4. Recognising scams and phishing
Warning signs
- Investment offers promising guaranteed, high returns.
- Pressure to act now: “today only”, “your account is about to be closed”.
- Messages asking for your password, a verification code or card details.
- Links that look official but point somewhere else (any domain other than aurcam.com).
- Someone you don't know building intimacy very quickly and then asking for money (romance scams).
- Fake prize draws and “you have won” notifications.
5. Non-consensual intimate imagery
If you find that intimate images of you have been shared without your consent, this is our highest priority category:
- Report the content with the Report option and choose the privacy violation as the reason.
- At the same time, send the link to safety@aurcam.com.
- Where you can, preserve the evidence (screenshot, link, username).
- Consider going to law enforcement — this is a criminal offence in many countries.
When we identify content of this kind we remove it immediately, permanently close the account and work to prevent it being uploaded again. In sextortion cases, do not pay — paying usually increases the demands. Preserve the conversation and report it.
6. Suspicious sign-ins and account takeover
If you think your account has been taken over
- Change your password immediately (if you can still sign in).
- Sign out of every other session under Settings → Security → Sessions.
- Turn on two-step verification.
- Check the security of your email account — the attacker may have reached that too.
- If you cannot sign in, write to support@aurcam.com with your username.
We notify you when there is a sign-in from a device we don't recognise. If you never received that notification but are still suspicious, check your sessions anyway.
7. Extra protections for younger users
- Accounts belonging to anyone under 13 are not allowed; those we identify are closed.
- Younger users are offered more restrictive privacy settings by default.
- We apply zero tolerance to child safety violations and report the incident to the competent authorities.
- A detailed guide for parents: Parents' Guide.
8. Support resources
- Emergency (Turkey)
- 112 — the emergency call centre
- Urgent report on the platform
- safety@aurcam.com
- Appealing an enforcement action
- appeals@aurcam.com
- General support
- support@aurcam.com
If you are thinking of harming yourself, please don't go through it alone: reach out to someone you trust or call a local support line. When content of this kind is reported to us, we send the user a message pointing them to support resources.
